Time to Cut Them Out

First things first: if you’re addicted to porn, it’s time to get serious about removing it from your life.

Porn can slowly wreck your mind, distort your expectations, and make building a real relationship much harder than it needs to be. The more extreme the content becomes, the more normal, healthy sex can start to feel boring. That leads to false expectations, poor connection, and both partners walking away unsatisfied.

There was a time when simple attraction was enough. Now, many men who are hooked on porn need harder, rougher, more extreme material just to feel aroused. To be clear, between two healthy, consenting adults, rough sex or fantasy can have its place. But it should be something that adds spice — not something required just to get turned on.

What Porn Does to Dating

Men who consume too much porn often struggle badly when it comes to real women and real dates.

They miss the subtle signals. They stop noticing body language, eye contact, warmth, hesitation, and emotional cues. Instead, their brain is trained to expect exaggerated porn-style behaviour.

They bring desperation into the date. If your mind is full of scenes you watched earlier, she can feel that energy. You’re not fully present with her — you’re trying to force reality to match a fantasy.

And if you masturbated before the date, your sexual energy may be lower. She may not feel desired, pursued, or wanted in the way a woman naturally wants to feel.

The Sexless Marriage Trap

Many men turn to porn because they’re stuck in sexless marriages. They use it as a quick release to manage frustration and unmet desire.

But understand this clearly: a sexless marriage should not simply be accepted as normal.

If her needs and rights in the relationship are being honoured, yours matter too. That doesn’t mean blame, anger, or childish resentment. It means the issue needs to be faced and fixed.

Now, if you’ve been lazy, unattractive, emotionally absent, weak, or neglectful as a husband, then you need to look in the mirror first. Sometimes a woman’s lack of desire is a response to a man who stopped leading, caring, and showing up properly.

Either way, porn is not the solution. It’s a hiding place.

Masturbation and Your Drive

Masturbation gives you a dopamine hit, but it is not the same as real sex with a real woman. Real intimacy involves connection, energy, touch, chemistry, presence, and emotional exchange. Masturbation is isolated stimulation.

Marc Summers discusses this in Declare War on Yourself, where he compares the brain activity involved in masturbation with real sex. His point is clear: masturbation can train the brain in a very different way from genuine sexual connection.

And long term, excessive masturbation can leave a man feeling drained, unmotivated, and weaker in his discipline.

So the goal is simple: stop using masturbation as an escape.

If you can’t quit immediately, reduce it. Once a week at most if you absolutely can’t resist — but the real target is to cut it out completely. Masturbation within a real sexual encounter with a woman is different. That’s part of shared intimacy. Sitting alone chasing a dopamine hit is not.

The 30-Day Test

Try 30 days with no porn and no self-pleasure.

Watch what happens.

You’ll likely feel more driven, more focused, more energetic, and more in control. You stop feeling needy around women. You start showing up with stronger presence. You begin to appreciate dates and connection instead of chasing release.

The aim is not to hate sex. The aim is to master your sexual energy.

A man who cannot control his urges becomes controlled by them.

Take your power back.
